#Paris, late summer evening, something special

Paris-evening-late-summer

It's been a while since I posted a photograph, but this evening taking a little stroll to the place de la reunion in the 20eme here in my neighbourhood, 28 degrees in the shade and its October, doesn't get much better than this...

9/11 photo with strange G.O.D message

911-god

We were living on Broadway between Berry and Wythe and the morning of 9/11. When we heard on the TV about the first plane, I just knew it could not have been an accident on such a clear sunny morning. I spent the next few hours, between the road downstairs, the TV in the loft and the balcony out back looking in disbelief, listening to the helicopters overhead and the army on foot on the bridge, documenting some of what I saw. One of the early shots I took from the road looking towards Manhattan and the towers was the one with the G.O.D truck. Imagine... 1-800-Dial-God just happened to be parked there at this particular moment... stranger than fiction... I remember the first moment I hit the street, I was taking some movie footage of the towers, no one was about at this stage except one woman walking, with her back to the city, towards me. She noticed I was filming and turned to look in the direction of my attention and said out loud 'oh my God'

shot taken sometime back on a holiday in NZ. They say a NZer can do much with a piece of No.8 wire, and here we see what extravagance can be given to a simple road sign. Place branding doesn't come more surprising...

prehistoric future reality and it is 2011, first world

Back-to-the-future

Here is a shot from my kitchen, the year is 2011 infact it is January 2nd. In my other room where I now sit and write, is a computer so current and powerful, apparently more sophisticated than the computer that launched a space mission way back when we cared about space missions. This is the strange juxtaposition of modern life. I don't know which apparatus is more baffling to me, (the water meter in the photo or the computer on which I write this post) I wouldn't be able to fix either. The other details in the photo: drugs on the shelf, all legal, infact half of them are prescribed for kids. Below this shelf hangs two pots with drain holes. Worth a mention for anyone who enjoys a cool invention and a fine expression of the marvels of the mind and what can be achieved if one puts it to use. Instead of drying the cutlery after washing one can toss the knives and forks etc into these pots and they auto dry, storage too. All in one.
